Tips (To save You Trouble)

we have been called out to many household disasters. Many of these could have avoided by a doing a few simple things,the most common are listed below...read on
1.Get to Know where your main Stopcock is and label it along with other isolating valves in your home.
2.Turn these valves on and off about twice a year to make sure they work!.
3.If leaving your house in winter,leave your heating on a low setting and pull your lofthatch ajar by about 9 ins(Thus letting some heat up into the loftspace and to the pipework).
4.Get your Boiler serviced regularly,so it wont let you down and it wont produce carbon monoxide,most heating engineers are very busy in the winter months so get you appliances serviced before the cold weather.
5.Get some controls fitted to your heating system if it is more than 10 years old it is probably not as efficient as it could be, you could save money on your gas bill!.
6.Re washer taps rather than let the family turn them off tighter to stop them dripping, this causes more wear and shortens their lifespan.
7.Keep your heating system clean inside by having some corrosion inhibitor added,
this will add years to the life of the system and will make it work better.
8.Make sure your tanks and pipework in the loftspace is lagged properly,leaks or bursts in the loft cause the most damage to properties.
9.Dont use bleach or other chemical blocks inside WC Cisterns the internal parts clog
or are affected by bleach, Fresheners that fit the rim of the WC Pan are fine.
10.Get to know a Plumber /Heating Engineer/ Electrician,before you have that emergency !
